Done with UCT

I can’t say that I’m sad to say that I am done with classes at UCT and will only be stepping foot on the campus three more times. Earlier in the semester I did a post on the differences between UCT and USC. At the time, UCT was still a relatively new place to me and as with all new places I didn’t have a reason to hate it. Now, after a few months of attending lectures at UCT, I can say with certainty that I will not miss it.

Here are just a few of the reasons why I am glad to be done:

Lecturers at UCT (with the exception of my War & Society professor, Lauren) are extremely boring and really seem to care less about their students
The Jammie (the shuttle which takes us from lower to upper campus) has absolutely no rhyme or reason. I never know if it’s going to stop where I want it to and I find myself keeping my fingers crossed that it stops at my preferred stop every morning.
The library doesn’t allow you to bring in coffee, drinks, anything. I think there’s something fundamentally wrong with me having to sneak a sip of water from my water bottle in the library.
Printing is quite the ordeal. Last week I had three papers due, which meant I had to battle the printer several times. I stood in line for twenty minutes for a student worker to find the key to unlock the printer so he could refill the paper. After twenty minutes passed he informed us that he couldn’t find it so we had to print everything elsewhere.
Here’s something that I stole from Beth: the bathroom lines. The bathroom lines here are absolutely ridiculous. Many times half (or more) of the stalls aren’t working, which makes going to the bathroom on campus a fifteen minute ordeal.

I’m sure that there’s many more things that I could add to my list of grievances for UCT, but I’ll leave it at this just to spare people who are reading this the pain of listening to me rant.
